Edfu and Kom Ombo by Road Luxor to Aswan the Long Way

- The double temple of Sobek and Haroeris at Kom Ombo
- The Crocodile Museum
- Arriving at Kom Ombo late, after the cruise boats have gone
- Your luggage travels with you; it is a transfer, not a round trip
About this tour
If you are traveling between Luxor and Aswan without taking a cruise, here is what to do with the day.
The Temple of Horus at Edfu was buried in sand for centuries, which is why it is the most complete temple in Egypt—pylon, courtyard, hypostyle halls and sanctuary all still standing and still roofed, with colors surviving in the upper reaches. Walking into it is the closest you will get to seeing a Ptolemaic temple as it was meant to be seen.
Kom Ombo is the stranger of the two: a double temple, built symmetrically for two gods at once, with mirrored entrances and twin sanctuaries: Sobek the crocodile on one side, Haroeris the falcon on the other. The Crocodile Museum beside it holds the mummified crocodiles dug out of the site.
We run it as a one-way private transfer, so your luggage travels with you and you arrive in Aswan in the evening, having seen both, rather than spending four hours on the road.

Questions about this tour
Yes — Aswan to Luxor works exactly the same way, and it means reaching Edfu in the afternoon rather than the morning. Tell us which way you are travelling.
No. Cruises stop at both temples and it is included. This exists for people who are not cruising, or who are flying into one city and out of the other.
About four hours in total across the day, broken into two stretches with the temples and lunch between them. It is the same drive you would be doing anyway — this simply puts two of Egypt's best temples in the middle of it.
